This spring is all about pastels and I am falling more and more in LOVE with the country style I have been seeing other stylist working with. Outdoor weddings are obviously in blossom with this amazing weather, and there is nothing that can keep a smile on a beautiful brides face like the sun glistening off her cheeks.
With this being said I want to get into what the main topics ...LIFE & LOVE
I figured you all might like to know a little about myself- I Am Shelby Owens.
I was a small town girl born in Lafayette, Louisiana and raised in the mountains of Alpine, California - I was raised in a happy home with my mother and father as any single child would be. My father was a successful savvy business man who was away often and my mother, well she's more then a mother she is my best friend. I always had lots of aunts, uncles, cousins and of course countless friends.
When I got a bit older I had a passion for fashion and all I could to focus on was shoes, purses and designer jeans. (Not kidding, I am pretty sure I thought I was Carrie Bradshaw from "Sex in The City"). At the age of 15- I assisted Alicia Bell in styling my first music video for Kelly Clarkson and Reba Mcentire's remix of "Because of You". This is when I knew all I wanted was to be a stylist-Create an image that pertained to the project coming to life and to create the beauty that it portrayed. Following a few short years after I attended FIDM as a Visual Communications major as well as getting Certified as an International Event and Wedding Coordinator from QC School of Events which proceeded my steps to following my dream.
Soon after I decided what I really had the desire to do... WEDDINGS!
I am in LOVE with the feeling of LOVE. It's a beautiful feeling that takes your body and soul over and just leaves you in this realm of pure bliss and completeness. I don't know about you, but when I'm in love I feel nothing can interrupt US because you become one, there is always a shoulder to lean on. Seeing this beauty of two people creating their lives about one another instead of themselves is something I will always see as life's greatest treasure. This is the spark that gave me that glisten in my eye- I knew this was my path to be traveled.
I took a plunge at 21... (NO I didn't get married), I moved to Las Vegas to become the marketing manager of the #1 show in Vegas "Raiding the Rock Vault" . (let me tell you... I had NO idea what I was getting into). This to say the least was a new chapter in my life- I left everything I was familiar with to venture out into the city of SIN with nothing but 9 suitcases and a yorkie ( aka Bridget). To keep it short I had a blast exploring the new craziness I was calling home- Meanwhile I am living on the 27th floor of the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel also known as the LVH. At 21 years old what more could you ask for, ( I mean lets be real, room service and a maid 24 hours, how could I really complain). I was the epitome of "Living the Dream"! Soon after being settled I took the leap to create my Event Coordinating LLC in Las Vegas "Legendary Productions".
Following my contract with " Raiding the Rock Vault" I decided this Cali girl needed to get out of the desert and have her toes in the sand (and not the kind that isn't connected to a mass body of water!). Moving back to San Diego has to be one of the best decisions I could of made. I am in this miraculous city of beauty between Balboa Park to Harbor Island then venturing out into the mountains of Julian for a nice slice of pie and some snow I believe San Diego has something to offer for everyone. (Like I said, I REALLY COULDN'T BE HAPPIER)!
With all the inspiration surrounding me I had the image of creating a boutique event coordination and styling firm here in the city I LOVE. This dream shortly became a reality as here I am today, a proud Event Stylist and happy Owner/ Operator of "Simply Classic Events".
Thank you friends, family and followers...
